There is a lot of conjecture about the Mallard speed record.
From what I have read about the steaming capacity, cylinder size and all those other bits that determine just how fast a steam loco can go it may have been a bit of wishfull thinking.
100 mph tops was achievable but 126mph??? Rodney Dangerfield

I think a few people had their hands on their dicks during this run!
Anyway the thing broke soon after and was fucked for the rest of the trip.
A record to me is only when timed accuratley by those swiss cunts with kick arse timepieces and only when the machine can be used straight away for another go!
