We could make the front page work-safe by having an absence of funbags in the logo, and by, say, replacing the three instances of the word "cunts" with the venerable replacement "cunce".

I haven't spoken to the other two Evil Overlords about it, but I'd be fine with doing that in principle. The only problem is that it might be a change with fuck-all meaning: ie. you're not going to just sit there at work staring at the front page without clicking through to a forum. And that renders the whole thing kinda moot - I think if I ever tried to make the entire site work-safe, the punters would lynch me and nail my bollocks to a lofty bough.

I tell ya the banner that stood out like the dog's knackers was the "RB is catching" - you could see that one someone's screen from the other side of the street! Guilty as charged yer onner.

What you could have is a 'safe' page with a quick link on any page that takes you there. Sounds like more trouble than it's worth but mebbe, just mebbe...

Remember the "boss button" on games years ago? There was some raunchy looking game which had a button you'd click in an emergency and it would go to some anonymous looking spreadsheet. This was in about 1992 on a Mac!

Haven't considered the work-safeness of the current banner - I guess it could easily be seen as offensive by an uptight lesbian co-worker though, which is all you need to end up on a harrassment case.

A "boss" key (or link) would be of fuck all use to me as I sit with my back to the wall, normally I have no idea anyone's there until they speak, which is normally long after they've had a chance to see what's on my screen.

I reckon keep the banner(s) SFW, put NSFW warnings on threads where the content is a bit iffy and most of us should be OK - you've got to be pretty close to a screen to read it, so it should only be images, videos and any sound links that should be an issue, none of which (except for the banner) are imposed on anyone short of clicking into a thread or link.

Okay...

There are two issues here (or two levels of boss nannying).

Some workplaces have Nazi IT people who flag (or shut down) sites that have swearing, using automated software. This goes even for emails. We can't do anything about this other than to ban swearing from RB (and that's not going to happen).

The other concern is that of "people walking past". No webmaster can control this. I could put all manner of censorious shit onto these boards, but an uptight Feminazi might still find something wrong. That's up to you to risk-assess.

The "Boss Button" is a thing I've seen before, but really, all you gotta do in a modern Windows environment is open a spreadsheet or something at the same time, and quickly switch across by clicking on the sidebar - that's what I do at work.
Hopefully, when we get upgraded to the new version of the software, we might have some more options for making RB work-friendly. At the moment though, I got jack I'm afraid.
