For those who knew this fairly popular hackspot, it seems that the ARTC has ruined it with a great new signal gantry.
Previously you could get an angle like this there (V/Line P18 on the BG line). Quite a lot of traffic there as most trains in & out of Dynon use it.
At least it is an excuse to go find a more interesting place to foam at. Looks to be some good spots on the Albion-Jacana Line.

I trust you have Fast01's permission to utilise his picture here (link or otherwise). I will be asking him next time I see him. _________________ ALL HAIL HYPNO-TOAD!

Fine, I will remove it.
Sorry for using a photo to illustrate my point.

| What's wrong with linking to someone else's photos that is placed on a public website (Imageshack)? Especially given that Somebody credited him and didn't make it out as his own?

Agreed.
Filtertron, your comments sound like something I used to hear back in grade 2. 'Ummmmm! I"M DOBBING ON YOU' _________________ My other car is a Dash 8

Common fucking courtesy is why.
The least Somebody could have done was ask. I'd be royally pissed off if they were my photos, lucky for you they are not. However, I do find it to simply be good manners to utilise someones photos only after asking if it's okay. fast01 took the photos and therefore holds the copyright to the images - it's not as if they are public domain.
I am sure fast01 would have been okay with it if you did - or is it possible he would have said no, and that's why you didn't ask...?
As for the Grade 2 remark: I've coughed up better than that. Cool it, fucken. _________________ ALL HAIL HYPNO-TOAD!

I have to disagree with you on this.
If someone places a photo on the internet in a publicly accessible location then they can't really expect people not to use it in forums etc. - I think Somebody did the right thing by crediting the photographer.
I've got a large website with a fuckload of photos so I am speaking as someone with experience, not some random with an opinion.

Replying momentarily to drwaddles; whether you have a website or not is irrelevent. People post their photos on forums in good faith. It is not up to someone else - crediting the original source or not, to simply copy links and paste them elsewhere as they please. The photos used were not public domain, so therefore whoever wants to use them should ask for permission from the respective copyright owner before they do. It's simply common courtesy and respect for the person kind enough to share their images in the first place.
I guess we'll have to agree to disagree here. I can see this argument going around in circles.
Now.
Getting back on topic (sorry TLD!), the West Footscray bridge was a shit of a spot.
No good for Up trains at all. Just about everyone has a photo taken there (strangely, I never did though), so it's nothing really unique. the Totty B area was a little bit better - at least you could make a photo to look a little bit different, and also get Up trains without a problem. The smell from Huntsman Chemicals across the way was a bit of a killer.
I guess most places in the Melbourne metro area where you can view bulk trains are quite boring and are simply flogged to death. _________________ ALL HAIL HYPNO-TOAD!

I don't mean to keep this off topic, but all the same I am I do recall Filtertron using a photo of mine on the other forum without my permission last year, we're mates in the real world but all the same...it gives me a chance to shit on his argument

Meh, can't be bothered to go that far. Requires hunting down a post from last year in the other forum. A mans honest word should do the trick _________________ http://photobucket.com/VBAndy
