What a pity that there are no longer photo stops on heritage tours.

They still exist in daily use, used one yesterday to do address labels for boxes. a grey Olivetti electric jobby it is. Why we still have it is a mystery in this day & age of computers but it works and it scares the young 'uns.

(Years ago, the model 28 teleprinters in service with the RAAF until 1994 were an interesting bit of kit, the techs from the ATC tower at RAAF Darwin used to call me a typewriter mechanic but it was fun work, along with punched tape. The stuff from the punched tape was called chad, three handfuls of chad filled the average tower techs lunchbox up quite nicely Wink )

I used to be a typewriter technician, years back, the most embarassing thing that ever happened to me was dropping a brand new special ledger typewriter on the foot path, when delivering it, it was huge and simply slipped out of my hands, we used it for years after as a source of spare parts for the other Hermes typewriters we had to fix! Cool
