Admin Note (Ding! Thankyew):
Cobraking, I am exceedingly disappointed that you chose to do other than what you told me re fucking up. I acknowledge that you were provoked, but you also have to acknowledge that I gave you two or three chances AFTER having said to you, "No more."
I said you'd be suspended for a fortnight.
You are suspended for a fortnight.

Ok then, pax.....but I having perused the "Roundhouse" Publication since the loco returned, every issue of the Prez's column since, always contains snide remarks about 3801 Ltd's treatment/mistreatment of the loco. This last issue is a doozy.
I can understand your perseved frustration at the squabble, but I think Berriman does the cause no good with his continual veiled slagging of 01 Ltd in his column.............. |
I also noticed in a recent Roundhouse that they've taken a subtle stab at Lachlan Valley Railway for delaying their June long weekend trip. That's pretty rich, considering a mate aboard that train tells me that their train (With the P and 59 Class) refuged immediately in Harden Yard 40 minutes in ahead of the RTM special.
Whoever wrote that account needs to get their head out of their arse, and stop thinking that their train has Pope-given powers on the network. And that's directed only on the individual who wrote that account, and not on the RTM membership.
And as an aside, I was also told another LVR Attendant having a light-hearted banter of rivalry with an RTM attendant train-to-train during the stop at Harden yelled out to him "Get a real train!"

I admit I wasn't at Harden, but I was at Jindalee to see all three heritage trains go by (LVR Cootamundra trip, NSWRTM Melbourne trip and ARHS-ACT Temora trip). I won't swear to ultimate precision, but IIRC the ARHS was a bit early, LVR were pretty close to spot on time and NSWRTM were 5 or 10 minutes late, so yes and whining in relation to that trip is completely unfounded AFAIK. _________________ It's Better to die on your feet than to live on your knees - Oils.

My sentiments exactly.....only a few dickheads stirring it up and wonder why some react. I would have thought a President of any organisation would have enough nouse to try and be professional....sadly, in this case it's not.
I also know of a couple of loud mouths even slagging off drivers of "rival" trains. And to top it off, giving the TO's at Strathfield a serve as well. _________________ Same shit, different day !!!

The only thing that I will say is that it only takes action by one fuckwit to make image of the rest of the people turn to shit.
I apologise to the people who were offended by the people on RTM Train and ask that you forward the information on to the Head Office at Central. _________________ Dont Confuse Me With Lifeline.

Hmmm. The Mary River Railway Huh! I was there about two weeks ago on a work mission & didn't realise that the "Rattler" even existed. What was most horrifying was that the restored locomotive was actually younger than me. Now! there's not a lot in it but I did notice that it was in somewhat better condition, too.
Anyone know when the last Steam Loco was commissioned in Australia? _________________ Any club that wants me as a member, I don't want to join!! Groucho

Jibbonpoint a friends son here in Adelaide is building from the ground up a modern version of an old SAR, NG Z class locomotive, he is pretty well advanced on it at the moment so could this be what you are after! By the way this will be full size and working as well, just for those that thought it was a small model! Not bad considering that he is building it in his back shed, but his back shed is a lot bigger than most! _________________ Do the letter's F.O. mean anything to you Sheriff!

Don't know about the last one in absulute terms, but the last "mainline" engine on a government system (they were all gummint in those days) was a BB18 1/4 from Walkers No 1089 on the QGR in 1958.
Quite likely some industrial (cane) engines after that. Dunno. _________________ Argus Tuft

Nope. As of now she's the last steam loco built in Australia. Commissioned? If you wanted to get super technical you'd count Pendennis Castle and Flying Scotsman among those.

ok, Thank for that. I remember being a small boy at Summer Hill seeing an electric loco hauling freight. I wouldn't have been more that 4 or 5. So they must have been building electric & d/electric while still completing steam loco's. _________________ Any club that wants me as a member, I don't want to join!! Groucho

If you wanted to be hyper technical, any locomotive re-commisioned can play in this game. Which would make J541 the last loco commisioned in Victoria...dunno bout the rest of the cuntry. _________________ http://photobucket.com/VBAndy

One could also include that Built/rebuilt NM loco of Pichi Richi Railway's, there was not much of the original loco reused in that restoration, my son worked on it when it was being done! _________________ Do the letter's F.O. mean anything to you Sheriff!
