I saw a postcard today depicting a Swiss (I think) heritage rack railway. The tank engine had a couple of gas cylinders strapped to the back of it.

Made me think of the level crossing accident reports from early 1940's petrol rationing days when it was reported that "the gas producer was damaged"

Gas fired locos have been around a while, the Balley Hooley (or whatever the fuck it's called) had an LPG fired loco ages ago, but someone stacked it and it was written off. Their current runner may be a fart burner. The A10 in Croydon (last time I saw it) had a brand new boiler made for gas, but I suspect the loco is still in a gazillion tiny bits and pieces.
Personally I favour rock burners, fat burners smell like diesels! _________________ LB....mmmmm.

Nothing about it being a fart burner, but here's a page on the bugger:

I was under the impression that the project was at a standstill? Good to see that it is slowly coming together. _________________

Is this it?
Fart Burners certainly exist, but this ain't one. There'd be no visible smoke. _________________ ALL HAIL HYPNO-TOAD!

Hmm... not sure. It was very like that, but the other photo was taken from behind the loco, so I didn't get a good look at the train side-on. And, IIRC, the loco was black, and there were two cylinders on the back. I don't remember the smoke or otherwise).
Still, there can't be that many like that. Might well be the same railway at least, if not loco. _________________ The idiot who, in railway carriages,
