The Roseworthy line is now officially closed. A stop board will be put up at the Gawler River Bridge.

Won't be seeing this again anytime soon...

Well that's a bit shit, but hardly suprising. When PN announce it's intentions in victoria, those BG grain rakes would've looked like pure gold to ARG if they could be used over there.

I was a passenger on what could've been the last passenger train over the Roseworthy Line, back in 2000, when Xavier College transported the entire school on board 6 or 7 3000 class to a giant Catholic Jubilee orgy at Adelaide Oval.

The OHS issues around that one were fucking unreal.

When'd a train last use it? Whys it being closed now? Rodney Dangerfield Looks like now the only usage of the Gawler line will be railcars, and the stone train.

And Adelaide_passenger, you're pretty lucky to say you've riden a Poxbox on the Roseworthy line Rodney Dangerfield. I wonder if that was the first time one had went up there Question

Last grain train would have been sometime in 2007, though there weren't that many during the year. My guess is GWA aren't interested in running trains up there any more and that ABB and AWB are too stupid or too lazy to try and source an alternative operator.

There were several charters with 3000 class - PDSRM/NRM ran at least one trip through Roseworthy to Balaklava, can't remember when though even though I was on it.

Yeah, it was a bit different. The school was loaded on two very makeshift platforms made of scafolding, spaced a distance the same as between the doors of a 3000, so that one railcar could loaded at a time, the train moved forward, repeat.

It had a distinct 'cattle' feel too it. The crossing at parkers road was blocked by police for a considerable amount of time due to the length of the train, method of loading and position of the platforms. The train then ran express to adelaide.

It's the type of thing, dare I say it, that would never be repeated, and I have no idea how it was allowed to happen in the first place!
