Some days ago, had to do a transfer between bank accounts, something along the lines of a five figure sum and for real estate purposes. This was transferring between my National Bank account to my sister's Communist Bank account.

To my dismay, the fucksticks at the NAB had this cunning process of firstly debiting my account the amount being transferred, considering it emptied it and put the balance in the red, and then thought to charge me a dishonour fee on the lines of $40! Then finally re-credited my account with the remaining balance, sans the amount due to the dishonour fee!

So I rang the bank, and after a good 15 minutes in the queue listening to some classical musical shit, I finally got through and gave them my mind's worth. I was careful not to be too blazent with the poor young chap on the other end, but it just shitted me to tears how it seems he was reading out of a fucking script, that the process of transferring my account and charging me a dishonour fee was an 'automatic' process, my fucking left testicle it is.

In the end, I had my fee refunded, but it astounded me how often a day this might happen, and if others bear and grin it. I admit, I was ignorant about the functionality of banks, as up until this time, I never had any dramas with them, until now. Fuck them!

Now I believe our overlord admin Senor Notch works in a Bank for a living (And even that job in particular), and I mean no offence to him, but my experience still stands! Mad

Yep.

Fuck Banks. Left the Commonwealth Bank and NAB for a Credit Union 15 years ago. Bucketloads more flexible and could count the cost of transaction and account fees paid on my left hand. What the fuck are ya's waiting for, do it.

Why do you bastards persist in banking with one of the 'big four'? Those cunts will shaft you at every opportunity.

Go to a credit union or Bendigo Bank. At least when I call Bendigo, I can talk to someone in Australia (Bendigo, actually!).

Used to work for a bank, stopped in April 2005 and now work in a much more evil pair of industries: human resources and helpdesks... The Hedgehog

However, my job was dealing with complaints from people - like The Plainsness - who had been dicked over by various automated features and retarded decisions by That Bank and/or its staff. In my normal evilness, I would refund a fee or charge straight away; my limit was IIRC $500.00 which I think covered as much as you could be fucked over in 99.99999% of cases; I had people who hated the bank as much as me with limits for reversing funds and fees of up to $3000,00

That having been said - when you spoke to me and you were a cunt (mentioning your "Cennalink pay" for example, or lying tome about where you spent your money - I could and did check) or were abusive needlessly or genuinely tried to pull a scam (like writing a cheque when you knew full well you had no money) ; I would not refund the money - and make damn sure that you wouldn't get fees refunded in the future.

Noticed the same thing when I bought my place - I had to transfer money from my "phone & internet only" account to my normal account (with the same bank), gave 'em a day to do it (as they say to do), next day got a bank cheque to give the solicitor. Result, debit was taken out before the credit so I had -$35k or something balance at one stage. St George are smart enough to leave it 'till the end of the day before sending out dishonor fees though, so I didn't get the shit you did Plains.

Parkes Hub - doesn't always help - a decade or so back I gave Westpac the flick because their fees were getting a bit rich, went to St George (who promptly added a few fees, but still less that Westpac and I've had little trouble avoiding them). Now, however, Westpac has bought St George so no doubt I'll soon be back where I started, being given it up the butt whether I like it or not.

Yeah...I know the feeling, Bwana, I used to bank at Bank Of Melbourne after giving Westpac the arse! They called it a "merger"...yeah, right! Anyway, then left BoM/Westpac to Bendigo where I've been ever since.

Just like fellow bastard Bwana I am with St George and have been since school days, when it was a Building Society, except for a few months when first moved to Mossy as Mossy didn't have one went with State Building Society.

St George then took over State so was back where I started. St George then became a bank still okay not one of the big boys.

Now Gail (I should have never left St George) Kelly wants to take over St George. I despise the shareholders of St George (I am not one BTW) that agreed to this this takeover. Despite all the assurrances given I can not see St George existing in its own right for very long.

As I have no loans when some of the Fixed Term investments I have with the old dragon mature I may have to consider moving to a CU or the IMB.

BTW what is with the bloody interest rates. Cheque account I get a miserly 0.01%PA then get hit with fees if balances drops below a certain level, then get hit with an account keeping fee if it drops below a lower balance Angry Satan . Hell even a cahs Management account only nets me 1.95%PA. About time the customers got some of the fucken profits after all we are making them the fucken profits in the first place Angry Satan Exclamation

If you really want to be with a big bank, you pay your excessive fees, sit on the phone for hours to solve the tiniest problem, and have the inestimable privilege of being able to find ATMs in every corner.

Go for a credit union where the staff at your local branch can do just about everything for you and the queues are thought of as excessively long when there's three people in front of you.

Get a load of this shit.

"Banks that are getting taxpayer bailouts awarded their top executives nearly $US1.6 billion ($2.34 billion) in salaries, bonuses and other benefits last year, an AP analysis reveals.

The rewards came even at banks where poor results last year foretold the economic crisis that sent them to Washington for a government rescue."

I read somewhere that Krudd and Labor promised to bring in a law where if executives were to receive bonuses of over $1 million it would have to be approved by shareholders.

How many do you think would be approved this year?

To date Labor's done SFA about it.

They'd mainly be approved by the millions of proxy forms from institutional shareholders, so it's pretty much a meaningless gesture anyway.
