One serious question for probably Bigged or Mick_L or some other canetoad: in Victoria, every bell-equipped crossing has a 1800 number which you can report faults to. Does Queensland have this? _________________ Get a fucken move-on

| I have an idea that the crossing near my work recently grew such a sign, so it is quite possible that they are being rolled out with an overall cosmetic level crossing upgrade. Things like changing the cross bucks to the rectangular red sign, Do not queue across crossing signs, and cross hatching on the road. I'll have more of a look when I go to work this arvo

hmm... this question was asked to me while the RP thread was locked. I've answered it to the best of my ability there, but from what I've seen:
Level crossings on the Western Line (Brisbane-Toowoomba and west.), and the Central Line (Rocky - Winton) all seem to have a little sticker with a fault number and a reference number. (Even crossbuck-only open level crossings.) I'm not sure if they've been installed on GNR crossings or not, but - as I said on RP - I'm not usually concentrating on the signs when entering a crossing.
However, if Mick saw one of these near Cairns, I'd say the chances are good that the accident site level crossing had one as well. _________________ Johnmc

So if there was a sticker and number - why did none of the truck drivers, especially old mate, not stop said truck and ring? _________________ Get a fucken move-on

That would mean stopping the truck! Don't you know that starting a truck from stop increases stresses on the driveline bullshit bullshit and whatever other half-arsed excuses they have for breaking the law regularly?
I don't know if they have these in NSW, but I've never noticed them. Unless it's a sign a metre or more wide I ain't gonna see it from the drivers seat, and I don't recall when I last had to wait at a level crossing. Of course probably about 10 minutes after I'd stopped at the crossing I might have started looking around and noticed it. Somehow I doubt these dropkicks sit there for 10 minutes waiting - obviously they know better than the lights or the people who designed, installed and maintain them, so they know they'll be OK to cross, even if those idiot engineers and technicians don't know it _________________ It's Better to die on your feet than to live on your knees - Oils.
