On my regular journeys on electric sets from Macarthur/Campbelltown to Sydney I have noticed that there is a freight passing loop which starts south of Ingleburn and ends a bit north of Glenfield. Does all freight, at least in the up direction, go via this track, or does some go thru the passenger platforms at Ingleburn/Mac Fields/Glenfield?

The reason why I ask is that without having taken a proper look it looks like it may be possible to get a reasonable shot of an up train on it in the morning from the overbridge at Macquarie Fields (no overhead on that section), although I think it's not a great place to spend all day at Laughing

I've been meaning to try Glenfield of a morning. To early for drop dicks (just communters) and awesome lighting as the two frieighters get in (QRN's MB7 then PacNats MB4). Again, the fact that there's no wires is brillant!

I know that the Up Canberra Xplorers are tabled to use that line, except when diverted via East Hills of course.

5PS6 (Mon) and 2PS7 (Thu) are tabled that route: Iburn 0601, Glen 0605 till 0629.
As is -MB4 (M-F) Iburn 0846 Glen 0854, -MB4 (Sat/Sun) also Iburn 0910 Glen 0913.

The Up Garbo (2122) also runs that route nightly as does the Down -BA6, well they are tabled too. I didn't check out any other Down traffic.

I used to have nightmares about that Ingleburn relief road. It's used in the simulation program that us Signallers learn on at Petersham.
I still have the program round here somewhere.

Stick that one up your arse!, Fark.

The downside to Glenfield platform is that, during that time of the morning, there are quite a few sparks forming south line services, and they often get in the shot.
