Where be this bridge? I reckon I've driven past it before when I was a kid, but didn't stop.

Stick that one up your arse! Skraw, you legend!

Haven't been down that way for a few years, but a mighty impressive structure it be.

simon the bridge Skraw and I are referring to is in Gundagai, on the long closed Tumut line that ran from Cootamundra, roughly halfway between Syd and Melb on the Hume Hwy. IIRC you cannot see the bridge from the highway, you have to exit the highway and enter the town to see it.

Rolfeworld for Gundagai: http://www.nswrail.net/locations/show.php?name=NSW:Gundagai

Another trestle worth noting would be the ones on the Murrumbidgee flood plain on the Tocumwal branch line just south of Narrandera. Once again here is a Rolfeworld link for you: http://www.nswrail.net/locations/show.php?name=NSW:Narrandera&line=NSW:tocumwal:0

Oh yeah, and the Dubbo bridge ain't too bad either. Shit-eating grin

That Gundagai one looks cool - hasn't that line been proposed for re-opening to carry logs(?) in recent years?

Meadowbank Bridge in Sydney is a good one:

More shots from it here:

Stick that one up your arse! for that, dasher. The bridge I remember is the one at Narrandera. It has to be this one, as the one I saw was when I caught the bus to Sydney in my younger and less affluent days. The bus goes through Narrandera, so it must be it. Impressive structures, the lot of them.

There was talk going on for ages that the Visy paper mill at Tumut wanted to re-open the line to haul their paper etc, but they were only interested if the Gov'mint met them halfway for the costs to bring the line back up to standard.

Guess which side didn't come to the table. Twat

Another Whitton special - bridge over the Lachlan just outside Cowra.

Didn't get close enough for a better shot due to actually being there for work purposes!
