You're looking at our site as some mask wearing schmuck, so log in, sign up, or fuck off. If you don't, you won't be able to do jack. But by joining the bastard brethren, you'll be able to: talk shit, abuse shit and vote for shit... and if you're really special, be 'touched' by The Apparatus™. Signing up is dead set easy, just hand over your oxen, five fat lambs, three maidens comely and true, and first born child and we'll do the rest.
Edison those rails in the four foot were the rails we replaced on the up road and some were picked up by the train 4501 was hauling (robel rail train) and some were later dragged up the track and cut up by oxy in a clearing of sorts.
Well lads 4501 will be heading up to Werris Creek to be painted today, she's presently sitting in the dock at Broadmeadow. She'll be picked up by 4486 at around 1030 with the Kootingal train (NL51) hopefully I'll be able to upload my pics in the next few days!
Change 'a few days' to 'a few months' - here's a few shots from the Koot trip:
I couldn't ride the train due to some conflicting business on the Sunday, but chased it nonetheless...
Approaching Maitland (you can just see 4501 in the shafts):
Just arrived at Werris Creek - John Currey (left) and Ray Cross:
West Tamworth:
Rolling down the hill into Kootingal:
The Gunzelmobile:
Shunting at Kootingal:
Climbing out of Kootingal:
Heading back to Werris Creek:
Waiting for the road back into the yard (therein followed an interesting exchange with the controller at Broadmeadow...one statement made by said controller was - 'I can't see the siding you want on the panel'...half an hour to move a 44 and four cars 200m into a siding.):
And, half the reason for the trip, the finished product:
Ah well. Worth waiting for. I like 44s for some reason. Others might not like the style, but I reckon it's horn.
You going or the arty farty stuff mate? The ninth one from the top with dark foreground and cloud and the sun reflected off the train. Looks good. _________________ Argus Tuft
Stick that one up your arse! Greg might I just add as well, that the owners of 4501 called up the crew, told them to cut out 4486 just after Murrurundi for the climb, so we had it pushing a 44 plus hauling four cars - I'm told it sounded bloody spectacular...she reached Ardglen at 35kph...
Ahhhh how sweet would that have sounded...I may be a Clyde fan but I do love that ALCO growl when under load.
My grandfather was Foreman plumber at Clyde Granville from the late 1950's till it closed in the 1970's so thats why I'm a GM fan cause he helped build them all from GM1 right to 42220.
Look carefully at that lovely photo of 4501 running wrong road on Cowan Bank. She seems to be standing on the most marvellous piece of mixed gauge track that ever there was!
Where's the wide gauge? I got all excited about running a Adelaide 3000 class up cowan bank! _________________ My other car is a Dash 8
